Bridging the Technology Gap
Steve Heller, Livestock Product Manager at Ever.Ag, didn’t always navigate the complex world of agricultural supply chains. Initially trained as an electrical engineer, Steve’s career pivoted early on when he began working with database development tools, eventually leading him to a niche in supply chain procurement specifically with respect to agribusiness. Steve used his experience to translate real-world problems into practical easy-to-use solutions, by understanding agriculture clients’ unique challenges.
With two decades of experience in supply chain procurement—dealing with commodities like raisins, rice, and livestock—Steve sought to design and build a common system to replace outdated technologies. His journey through companies like Cargill, and fresh fruit packers like Stemilt, Sunsweet, and Sun-Maid, deepened his appreciation for cooperative business models and the intricacies of payment and procurement within the industry. Witnessing the limitations of existing systems, Steve was inspired to innovate.
“For years, meat processors limped along on aging or homegrown systems, which are hard to support as technology and staff age. Our software can address 80% of standard issues out of the box, streamlining the integration process and allowing us to focus on the remaining 20% of client-specific challenges.”
